Coral in Cold Weather

Coral looks great with tan skin and on the beach, but it can also look good with pale skin and jeans. Tan skin also looks good in a ll seasons as well, but I just embrace the pale skin, It's less maintenance. Ok, I am drifting.. back to the coral sweater. I love wearing the bright color in the fall. Sometimes I get into a rut of wearing neutral colors and more on the dark side, so it's nice to brighten it up a bit.

This sweater is comfortable and surprisingly warm. It's perfect for weather that is in the 60s, and preferably sunny. I also am enjoying wearing my burlap Toms during the fall instead of always grabbing for the boots. It's a nice change, and still looks earthy and fall-ish.

The holidays have officially started! It's my favorite time of the year, but also my busiest, as I am sure you can relate! I hope you stay warm, enjoy spending time with family, and wear bright colors!...at least every now and then.

Vest with the Fur

It's a whopping 36 degrees today in Texas! I am loving that the cold weather decided to show up. That also means I get to break out my jackets and sweaters! I have to wear them as much as possible before it is back in the 80s, and there is no telling when that will happen.

I also get the opportunity to wear my vest that I found thrifting. It is furry, warm, and I love it. It is also inspired for Thanksgiving that is coming up this week. Wearing leggings for Thanksgiving is a MUST! It is the only way I can survive the day. I don't mean that in a bad way. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It's just that there is too much good food, and I have no self control, so leggings help me to cope with overeating.

Unfortunately, I do have to report to work and teach today and tomorrow, but starting Wednesday there is a fire in my fireplace, me on the couch with a warm blanket, a hot tea in my cup, and a book in my hand. I can't wait!

Book Review + Outfit- The Martian

There is so much going on in the news about Mars currently, and I am soaking it up. I think it is very interesting. That is why I was so excited about this book and movie coming out. It was a different genre than I normally read, and I enjoyed it!

Below is the link to the book on goodreads

The Martian

What I Loved-
1. Watney. Oh Watney. He is so witty and definitely the comic relief in this book! There were a few times I actually laughed out loud.
2. The fact that it is set on Mars. So cool!
3. They jump from Watney's Mars logs to the story line on earth seamlessly. I was impressed with how Weir accomplished that.
4. The fact that I didn't want it to end, and I kind of miss Watney. I truly felt like he was real.
5. I love that I haven't read a book in a while where I gave it 5 stars on goodreads, and it felt great to do that again.

What I Didn't Love-
NOTHING! Even though it is VERY scientific, and I spent a good deal going, "huh?" I could easily skim and catch up to what was happening. I could imagine if I was a scientist, appreciating all the lingo and MacGyver tricks he pulls.

I would totally recommend this book!! It was fantastic and now I can't wait to see the movie!!

Vetern's Day

Today is a very important day! I truly believe that the men and women who protect this great nation are not always given the honor and respect they deserve. I feel as though they aren't always appreciated as much as they should be. The sacrifice they give is so great and is something that I can't even imagine doing. I am humbled by them and so thankful that they choose to do it!!

Thank you to all of our veterans out there! You have a special place in my heart, and you are always in my prayers! Thank you for your sacrifice and for keeping my family safe because of it.

I hope that everyone doesn't only take this day to recognize and appreciate them. Let's remember them always. I encourage you to lend a hand to help them when needed, give them the praise they deserve, and do any act of kindness you can think of to support them, for without them we would not be the country we are today!

Leather Jacket and Snakeskin Heels

I am embracing the more edgy side of me today. Which to be honest, is not all that daring. In the world of divergent, I would probably be Amity or Erudite. I don't have a risky bone in my body. So for me, this leather jacket and snakeskin heels are as bad as it will get. I did have fun breaking out the jacket and hearing my husband ask why I was going for a biker chick look. That made me almost put it back, but I decided to instead branch out and embrace this side of me. Even if only for a day!

Thrifted Thursday #5

It's Thursday, so we all know what that means. It's....

I haven't been thrifting in a while, so I am starting to get antsy! Hopefully very soon I will have an opportunity to visit my beloved stores! Until then, I am going to have to dig deep into my closet to highlight some of my past thrifts.

1. Jules & Leopold black and white top.
I fell in love with this shirt, but it doesn't quite fit anymore, so I am selling it in my Poshmark closet if you are interested!

2. Unlabeled Fur Vest
We all know that a fur vest is a common staple in many closets for the fall. I was really happy to find this one in such good condition. It is also reversible with leather on the other side. I love it when I get the chance to use my clothes for multiple purposes!

#3. Ann Taylor Maroon Sparkly Cardigan
It could possibly be the Aggie in me, but I do love the color maroon! I am really excited to wear this during the holiday season, but it will also look great for the fall.

The Bow Scarf

During the colder months, one thing I love to wear is a scarf. They can add so much to an outfit! Even though I truly love to wear scarves, sometimes I get bored wearing it the same way. Thankfully, there are so many ways to wear them.

One of my favorite ways to wear scarves is tied like a bow. I am such a fan of all things girly and wearing my scarf this way totally plays into that passion. It works best with silky scarves, or thin scarves.

This is my first picture with the infamous fall staple- the brown boots. I am loving the slight reprieve from heat we have been getting down here in Texas, and the feeling of fall is finally making it's appearance. YAY!

Book Review + Outfit- Bomb

Have you ever been apart of a really good, juicy secret? You know, the ones where the person is whispering to you even in a room with just the two of you. The one where your friendship depends on it. You are not to tell a SOUL! That is what this book was like for me! It is about the invention of the atomic bomb. There are spies, secrets, betrayal, and geniuses changing the world.

Here is the synopsis of the book on Goodreads:

Bomb: The Race to Build and Steal the World's Most Dangerous Weapon

What I like:
1. It was captivating for a non-fiction book.
2. I learned SO MUCH about the making of the atomic bomb, what being a spy meant during WW2, and what physicists were up to in the late 30s through the 40s.
3. It was SO. VERY. INTERESTING!
4. I didn't want it to end!
5. I learned a great deal about historically important people that I never knew about before.
6. I liked reading about a new perspective of World War 2.

What I didn't like
1. The only thing was when it went into great description about the scientific part of the bomb. I couldn't follow, so I just skimmed.

I didn't buy this book in a thrift store, so I included an outfit inspired from the book.
